Now That's an Eye-Opener and No Mistake!

For this blog's first recommendation, I have chosen a story with a real kick. It literally socks you in the gut at the end, in a what just happened, holy kest! sort of way. Absolutely a wonderful story, and very short, so even if you've only got a minute you've got time enough. Beautiful descriptions, and extraordinarily subtle until the jaw-dropper of an ending. I highly suggest it, even if you've only seen the Lord of the Rings movies once, rather than having read the books so many times they're half (or more) memorized. Very well written, beautiful descriptions, and one of those stories that sticks with you long after you've clicked to a new window. Please take a look, and let the author know what you think, good or bad--I despise "lurkers" and am not about to create any. ;) Enjoy: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/712895/1/

Hee hee, Avie, just saw your review. I'm glad you thought the same thing! That was totally my reaction--wha-HUH? Heh. It's that last line...

"Once more Elrond heard the voice in his mind. He saw the look of terror as Isildur fell to his death, still clutching the ring to his heart - a death he had been sent to by the hands of a friend."WHAAAAAT??? Catches you totally unexpectedly, doesn't it? BAM! Even reading it a second time it pulls it on me (to a lesser degree). It just seems so much like what we saw in the prologue to the film that you just get sucked in and go with it, then--brickwall! Smack! WHAT?

Wish I could pull something like that on people...that's so awesome...
