Little Help Here...

Okay, a little help here would be cool. I'm pretty far along in the next story I'm working on that I want to start posting soon. Unfortunately, I can't do that until I have a name for the city in which a good portion of the action takes place in. I'm bad at names... :(

Anyone who wants to help, that would be wonderful. A little background: It's really two cities in one, with the older, inner part mostly well-made of stone and surrounded by a high, strong defensive wall. The newer half of the city grew up around it over years, and is basically a tent city of shacks, etc, and there's a flimsy wooden wall that was errected around the whole thing. I need some sort of name that relates to the fact that it's really two cities in one, but my brain is absolutely dead. I don't care if it's in Westron, Sindarin, or something else entirely as long as it sounds appropriate. The "name" I'm looking for is actually more of a nickname that eventually became the only thing it was referred to as. Hence the reason it relates to the duel nature of the city.

More info's up at the lotrfanfiction.com Forum, both of my descriptions of the city's location and history if you want some of that, and some of Noldo's ideas. So...anyone want to help me? I'll post as soon as I get a name that works! :)

Oh yes, and must celebrate: have now got over 200 Reviews on one story! Sqeeee! *breaks out into big ewok dance of joy*

Hmmm...what about Daeaglar? It means "shadow glory" in Sindarin. I cheated, though. I've got "The Silmarillion" with me. Or maybe Mithfuin. That one means "gray gloom". I hope that these help!

P.S. - You can borrow Glorfindel as long as you don't hurt him too bad. I can't read Shadows Creeping because it's a little too bloody for my taste. (No offense, I just really hate violence.) If you do hurt him, rest assured that I will send TRIPLE the usual amount of emus on you!

P.P.S. - Here's another one of those internet movies that I bet your brothers would like! HERE Enjoy!

Oooh...those names are so pretty...so dark and pretty...*goes all dreamy-eyed thinking about them and their potential* They won't work for this city, but they're absolutely lovely! Must save them for pretty use later! Much thanks!!! :D

And don't worry about Glorfindel, he's not the target of this fic. He just happened to be the one who found the kids--but I don't think he'll get beat up at all, and if he does it will just be a little bit in battle. Nothing that our dear Balrog-slayer can't handle. So don't unleash the emus!!! He lives, I swear--er, well, I mean, he's already died, but I won't be killing him again...twice-born, not thrice...yeah, no emus... (and no offense taken!)

I can't watch the movie right now, as my roommate's asleep (yes, it IS almost 14:00...she's napping, she had to go to equestrian practice this morning and she was out doing something college-fun-ish last night) and I'll have to wait until she's awake so that the sound doesn't wake her up...but let me just thank you ever so much in advance I'm sure...

Wow...Avie...just checked that movie out. All I can say is "wow"... Hee hee, that was even better than the LotR-mushroom one... *snort*

I'm sorry that those names didn't work. What kind are you looking for? As for the movie, I found it hysterical. I've got a few other really funny ones that I found, so I'll have to give you those addresses eventually. I'm doing homework currently...(mutters incoherently)...dang to oblivion the evils of linguistics. As much as I love it, it's driving me nuts!

Aw, you poor thing, homework? Ickiness. I know because that's what I'm supposed to be doing right now...instead I just got back from Phantom! Far more fun! :)

Anyway, I wanted some sort of name that would suggest that it was really two different cities in one. Any language, really. But like I said, loce the ones you came up with! Most spectacular.

Okay, I got another name and not much time. How does Tadcaras sound? It means "two cities" (literally) in Sindarin.

Gotta go!

And you saw Phantom? I'm so jealous! I want to see that so badly! We own the original cast recording (I'm the only one that's listened to it), and I want to see it like nuts. I almost died when I saw the commercials! Lucky!!

I just won't go away, will I? Would you happen to know what HASA and Mithril awards are? If you do, how do you enter?

Phantom was great, first of all! Wow, so close to the stage version...and it's one of my favorite musicals (that and Les Mis! Bugger, why'd they leave Broadway...*pout*) and I think that was the best Christine I've ever seen. Anyway, it was so awesome. I've seen it twice now, and it's well worth going again. I hope you get to go soon! It's great! *starts singing to herself*

Ahem, anyway...those awards are given out by different sites that feature LotR fanfiction, like Henneth-Annun.net or things like that. They'll have contests and vote and then pick winners in different categories. Like at lotrfanfiction.com which is just starting up, there's the Flame of Arnor awards going on now. Mellyn was nominated, I'm so excited! *happy ewok dance* Anyway, yeah, that would be that...unless you wanted more specifics, in which case I don't know, because I've only just started posting on HASA and I haven't actually seen any contests there yet.

And sorry about the lack of linkage, I really ought to be either going to sleep or doing homework right now (who, me, procrastinate?) and I'm afraid I'm just too lazy to html them in right now... ;)

Anyway, glad you liked the first chapter! I'll try to get the second one up soon, as that first bit was just sort of an intro...Cheers! :D
